Niles West Blood Drive Coming Up

Niles West Blood Drive Coming Up

By Alli Lipsit, Staff Writer

West students 16 years or older and weighing at least 115 pounds have the opportunity to sign up for the annual National Honors Society blood drive.

The blood drive will take place in the student commons from 8:30 A.M.- 2:30 A.M., and all students who sign up are able to stop by during their free period (and only their free period) to donate. The money raised will go towards scholarships for local Niles West students.

During the donation process, the donors will first be given a short physical examination to make sure they are eligible for the donation. Afterward, they will be provided with water and snacks to prevent light-headedness, which can be a side effect of getting blood drawn.

Donors will also be given a free t-shirt after the process, which should take only about 5-10 minutes total.

Make sure to bring an ID to get your blood drawn.

Donors will also have to fill out a permission slip with the signature of a legal parent or guardian, which can be found in an email sent by student activities director Katie Odell a couple days ago.

The blood drive is a great opportunity to do a good thing, take advantage of it!
