Fans were thrilled to hear about the new season of Bridgerton coming out on Netflix after the first season came out and was immediately loved by many. Expectations were set high for season two, and after watching all eight episodes, I have some thoughts.

The Netflix original series starts with Anthony Bridgerton, played by Jonathan Bailey, finding a suitable wife to become viscountess. When he first laid eyes on Edwina Sharma, played by Charithra Chandran, he believed her to be the best woman to marry. However, Edwina’s sister, Kathani (Kate) Sharma played by Simone Ashley, was a distraction for Anthony. Season two brought an enemy-to-lovers trope between these two. When they first met one another, Kate was almost disgusted by Anthony and was terrified when Anthony proposed to Edwina. Afterwards though, once they spent more and more time together, they enjoyed each other’s company, later learning they had feelings for one another. The chemistry and tension between Anthony and Kate was the reason I loved this season so much.

Bridgerton season two really gave an insight on the different feelings relevant characters had towards each other. This was shown most notably with Eloise Bridgerton, played by Claudia Jessie, and Theo Sharpe, played by Calam Lynch. The whole city of London is trying to find out who the secret writer named “Lady Whistledown” is. Eloise especially had an interest in Whistledown and tried to find where her publishing center was. During Eloise’s search, she met Theo and both developed a liking toward one another, despite Theo being a commoner while Eloise was nobility. I appreciated how season two allowed you to see the connections between other characters and their romance life.

One of the problems I had with this season consisted in the movement of the camera, which created more emotion in the first season. The dance scenes in season one between Simon Basset, played by Regé-Jean Page, and Daphne Bridgeton, played by Phoebe Dynevor, showed the love and connection between both actors — the camera movement made the dance scenes seem intriguing and purposeful. In season tw0, however, the dancing scenes felt rushed between Anthony and Edwina and the camera movement did not live up to the expectations of season one.

Throughout the movie, I really enjoyed the humor incorporated into some scenes. Various parts had me laughing along with the movie.

Bridgerton season two was overall a season I was greatly fond of. A few scenes were lacking the excitement that could have been portrayed because of the camera movement. Despite this, I loved the romance between Anthony, Kate and a few other characters. It will keep you on your toes because you will be waiting for Anthony and Kate to form a real romantic relationship. All the positives lead me to rate this season a 9/10.
