This year’s winners of the Cutest Couple Contest are juniors Nicole Lehman and Matthew Deniega. They have been together since middle school and have been going strong for three-plus years. The NWN asked the couple some questions:

How did you meet?

“We met in seventh grade. Both of us were in Spanish class and there was this black box screen TV. Deniega would sit behind me, so looking into the reflection of the TV would let me have a clear view of him. From there, we started talking and eventually became what we are today,” Lehman said.

What’s your favorite thing about each other?

“I love how he is always attentive to what I say. Let’s say I mention something that I want or something I have been talking about for a long time, he will surprise me with it. He remembers the little things about me,” Lehman said.

“Her maturity and the fact that whenever something goes wrong, whether it’s about us or in her life, not only does she fix it, but she also balances it into her life and does it like it’s easy, but sometimes it does take a toll on her. But, that’s why I’m here to help her as well,” Deniega said.

How are you celebrating Valentine’s Day?

“We are going to the Hampton Social in Old Orchard,” Lehman said.

What’s your favorite meal at Maggianos?

“I have never been to Maggianos but after looking at their menu, I would like to try the fettuccine alfredo. So, with the gift card we won I will be trying that,” Lehman said.

“I have never been, but can’t wait to try it,” Deniega said
