On Sept. 19, British songwriter Raye, also known as Rachel Keen, released her new single “WHERE IS MY HUSBAND!” following her previous single “Suzanne.”
The song is catchy, with a fun and energetic vibe. It’s a little different compared to some of her other songs like “Escapism,” which has a more hardcore feeling to it with its fast tempo, and “Oscar Winning Tears,” which is a more emotional song. The record is similar to “Suzanne,” as it has an upbeat tempo. I am a big fan of songs that are upbeat, which is why I think this was a really refreshing change to some of the sadder songs we’ve been hearing from her.
Another song the single resembles is “Worth It.” Both are very uplifting and spread positivity. I think this new song encourages self-love because of how she preaches about waiting until you find the right person. She also sings about standing up for yourself in a relationship which is a really good sentiment to spread. Especially for her younger audience members who could be struggling in relationships.
I think it’s nice to have some uplifting songs in media, especially at a time where a lots of people are focused on being in relationships. Raye’s message of having the best person you deserve just pushes that sentiment even more. It’s so important to see more of message in songs. I also think it’s good to have a switch up and see more fun, lighthearted music. I’m really glad that she’s switching it up and focusing more on some happier songs. I feel like the song has so much energy in it and can really change the vibe of your day, especially if you’re upset. It has such a good vibe and it is a song that you can definitely jam out to.
One of my favorite parts of the song is the bridge, particularly the lyrics, “I would like a ring, I would like a ring, I would a diamond ring on my wedding finger.” It’s really fast paced, yet it has such an entertaining feel to it. The outro of the song is similar to this part, and the energy is just so high up that you can’t help but get hyped up.
In all, I would give this song a 5/5 rating because of the message behind it and the fun energy the song emits. I would recommend giving this song a listen, especially if you’re in a bad mood.
