Being a teenager, I have found it is hard to keep a steady income along with going to school and participating in sports. Yes, having a part time job is an option to solve that problem, but not everyone is able to. Furthermore,  it’s often hard to work a solid amount of hours during the academic year.

Sometimes finding a job is hard; not a lot of places are hiring, and if they are, oftentimes you don’t get a call back. I have had first hand experience with applying to 12 places and maybe hearing back from four of them.

One thing I’ve tried to do is sell my clothes online on websites like Depop or Poshmark. Personally, I prefer using Depop. It is such a quick way to not only make money but also to get rid of items you no longer need. Not only can you sell clothing items but also shoes and accessories like jewelry or bags.

All you have to do is take a picture of the item you want to sell and write a description and it goes on your account– usually you can sell something very quickly. Messages trying to negotiate the price come in pretty fast, which I think is beneficial because you’re able to agree on a price and sell the item quicker.

I just started posting my clothes, and so far I have made over $60. While I do work a part time job, it’s hard to get my desired hours with school, homework, sports, friends and family. Only working once or a twice a week is not enough to make my desired amount of money.

I like to have enough money to be able to buy new clothes or go out to eat with my friends, so along with working, selling my clothes is a quick way to earn extra cash to do those things. Not only am I making extra money, I’m also clearing out space in my closet. Getting rid of clothes I don’t wear anymore gives someone else the opportunity for new pieces that they will actually wear and not just let sit around and take up room.
