Hey guys! My name’s Alexa and I’ve been breathing fashion ever since I picked up my first issue of Vogue five years ago. I’m interested in almost every aspect of the industry, but my dream is to become a fashion journalist. Next year, I will be applying to some of the top fashion schools in the country: F.I.T., Parsons, and Pratt, all of which are in New York. I like to think that my knowledge of fashion can be trusted because of how much time I spend watching fashion shows, reading magazines–I have hundreds at home–and checking the many blogs I have bookmarked every day. I hope you enjoy my column!
Spring. Now that we’re not limited to boots and sweaters–although it’s sad to see them go–a plethora of spring trends await us.
Pastels for spring. I know it’s shocking. Pastels are a feminine, simple style that have graced the runway of several collections like Prada and 3.1 Phillip Lim.
Sheer has been trending since Fall 2011, but now, with Valentino dresses and Lanvin blouses and dresses, there is a spring take on it.
A tailored sports coat is always on trend, and this season has been no different, as seen in Balenciaga, Chanel, and Gucci.
High-wasted skirts and high-cut tops create a classy midriff- bearing look, as seen in Proenza Schouler, Acne, Bettega Veneta, Dolce and Gabana, and more.
After many seasons filled with minimalism, Lanvin, Balmain, and Gucci have brought drastically embellished dresses and jackets back on the map.
Lace took over the runways last September, but colored lace seen at Moschino and Valentino was a pleasant surprise. Two staples for spring fuse to create a trend we haven’t seen in a long time.
Collars have taken over the street style scene as well as several collections. They certainly add a quirky, girly detail to dresses and tops. Seen in Etro, Fendi, and Givenchy.
Funky prints were seen on suits, dresses, as well as shoes in the Spring/ Summer shows, adding some delightful charm to simple garments. Seen in Jil Sander, Oscar de La Renta, and Rag and Bone.
Sportswear literally means sportswear this season. Seen in Mcqueen, Balenciaga, and Alexander Wang.
Of course, I’m not suggesting that you buy a $3,000 Chanel jacket or $500 Jil Sander dress. Just keep in mind what’s in style for spring while shopping for new pieces!

This can be difficult if you have developed bad habits over the years. We are all different, so the only successful way to reach and maintain a healthy weight is to find what works best for you. Pumpkin is not only a super healthy treat,
