Niles West will host its annual Festival of Orchestras on Thursday, Mar. 15 at 7:30 in the auditorium.
The Festival of Orchestras is a grand concert where the Symphonic, Philharmonic and Concert Orchestras will perform, according to orchestra instructor Steven Katz. The orchestras will perform music from Copland’s Rodeo, Mendelssohn’s War March of the Priests, Variations on America, Sept 2001 and Hofeldt’s Lullaby.
“I am so excited about this concert. The talent level that we have at Niles West is incredible and I feel honored to step on stage at all of our concert,” Katz said.
Sophomore orchestra member Nicole Christodoulou is confident about this event.
“I think it’ll turn out good because Mr. Katz and all of us have put alot of work into our music,” she said.
She also feels excited because of her participation in the Festival of Orchestras last year.
“I feel excited to be playing in the festival, [since] last year was a fun experience,” Christodoulou said.
Marcus Bujdei, this year’s Niles West Concert Competition winner, will solo in Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto.
