National Honor Society (NHS) is sponsoring a canned food drive, which runs up until March 22. Cans will be donated to the Niles Township Food Pantry.
“The purpose of the canned food drive is to provide meals to the Niles Township Food pantry. Easter is coming up and we want people to have a good Easter dinner and spend time with their families. Hopefully people will give generously to those who are hungry out there,” said NHS sponsor Dan Gin.
The goal to reach this year is 2,700 cans, which equates to one can per student.
“It’s a great goal to try and accomplish because it means everyone is contributing,” said Gin.
The reward for the most cans donated by homeroom is a free breakfast or some free Decalicious ice cream. Both will be options for the top two homerooms in the school.
To donate cans, students and staff may drop off the cans near the mural by the auditorium or bring the cans to homeroom to have a NHS member pick up the cans later on.
