Niles West students will be competing in the FCCLA State Competition in Springfield on Thursday, April 19 to Saturday, April 21. The students who will be competing in the event have placed high in other FCCLA competitions.
The event is run by the nonprofit student organization Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), which focuses on promoting development and leadership skills through Family and Consumer Sciences classes.
Students competing from Laura McCormack‘s class are freshman Aisha Usman (decorated cookie), juniors Vanja Selak (fondant cake), Molly Morello (fondant cake), Laura Krikorian (fondant cake), Chris Lee (frosted cake), and Jackie Yablon (frosted cake), and seniors Jonah Barquez (salad) and Sashoy Chambers (relish tray).
Teachers Kay Coughlin and Michelle Kline will also have students competing.
