This year’s orchestra recital will be taking place on Monday, May 21st at 7 p.m. in the music wing.

The Pasta and Pops concert will be featuring popular songs from movies and musicals including songs from the movies Pocahontas and Enchanted, as well as a few others from the popular Broadway play “Wicked.”

Orchestra director Steven Katz has been preparing his students for the show since the week before spring break. Mr. Katz is eager to showcase all of the great musicians involved in the program, and views it as “a great opportunitity to showcase the entire orchestra program to the entire music department.  It’s really a celebration of music at Niles West…having the band, orchestra and choir program all together on one concert,” he said.

Students who attend the concert can be prepared to see songs from Enchanted and Pocahontas performed by the string orchestra, but the other pieces will feature not only strings, but also woodwinds, brass, and percussion.
