Walking the halls of Niles West, twin sisters Stacey and Stephanie Canchola have probably made you do a double take. Always side-by-side and often with a smile on their face, maybe in the middle of a quiet banter with each other, the two strut down the halls together, usually wearing the same glasses, hairstyle, and what they’re most known for: matching outfits. But they’re not just known for being sisters; they also identify themselves as each other’s best friends.
“We have opposite personalities, so that makes us really connect with each other,” Stacey said. “I think if we had the same personalities, we would fight all the time.”
One thing that’s for certain is that they share a preppy fashion sense. Being brought up to wear the same things, they were so worried about comparison between each other, so when they don’t dress identically, “it just doesn’t feel the same.”
“We’re trying to branch out now,” Stephanie said. “If we like the same thing, we’ll probably end up getting it, but in different colors.”
Both girls work as members of the Impact Team at Hollister, but decide to contrast in clothing so the customers don’t get puzzled.
Not only do the girls share a common fashion sense, but they’re both very big sports fans. However, they differ in favorite sports and teams. While Stacey enjoys baseball and football and supports the Boston Red Sox, Green Bay Packers and New York Giants, Stephanie prefers to watch soccer; her favorites are Barcelona and Madrid.
If there was one thing that each girl wanted everyone to know that makes them stand out from each other is their personalities. Stephanie is organized, serious, and quiet, while Stacey is more outgoing and straightforward. But both girls said once you get to know them, they can get crazy and a little bit wild.
