In order to purchase prom tickets, upperclassmen must register themselves in the online dance registration, created by student activities director Jessica Pritzker.
Before the seniors can move their tassels to the left, and throw their caps up in the air, there is still some unfinished business to take care of. One of those things being prom.
“The online registration for this years prom opened yesterday and will continue to be open for 2 weeks; Tickets go on sale shortly after,” secretary Patty Ference said.
Tickets go on sale April 29 and must be purchased by table. Post prom sign up is also available during the time of purchase.
There are also certain requirements to attend prom. In order to purchase a ticket, you must not be on social probation, have any fees/fines, your date must be under 20 years old, and you must purchase your tickets as a group.
Junior cabinet members said they have also put lots of effort into planning prom for the seniors and making this night unforgettable.
“For prom in junior cabinet we fundraise a lot since we have a lot of costs to cover. Aside from that we start by creating a theme and choosing a song for prom and from there we move forward. After the theme is picked we begin with decoration ideas. What colors, designs, types all are involved. The location and DJ are always decided by the administration since that is the most expensive. We also design the invitations and tickets for prom,” cabinet member Saleh Siddique said.
Besides the regular planning of prom, junior cabinet took up another challenge: a Green Prom.
“This year is a totally new form of prom because we coordinated our actions with GCSI (Green Council for School Improvement) to make Niles West’s first ‘Green Prom.’ The tickets are made from seeded paper- paper that can literally be planted into the ground and sprout up flowers 100% recyclable. The decorations are primarily biodegradable and everything we go for starts with “green” in our mind,” Siddique said.
