Coming off of last year’s up and down season, the Wolves look to come back strong and make a deep playoff run. The NWN had a chance to talk to head-coach Scott Baum and ask some questions about the upcoming season.
NWN: How has the team been looking so far?
Baum: We have had a good two weeks and we have been happy with the progress we have made so far. We are hopeful this season and I think we can do well.
NWN: What do you hope to accomplish this season?
Baum: We have goals, and our first goal is always to go to playoffs. We need to win at least five or six games. We are hopeful we can make it happen.
NWN: What are the teams strengths this season?
Baum: We have a group of strong and skilled players with lots of varsity experience.
NWN: What are the weaknesses?
Baum: Numbers is probably our biggest concern. We don’t have a ton of kids so health is a huge concern for our players. We have a group of young linemen so keeping them healthy and able to progress as players is a concern.
NWN: Who are your key players this season?
Baum: Seniors Nick Johnson, Garrett Iverson, Dennis Gargovich, and Andrew Mihulet. They are our leaders. Junior Tommy Galanopoulos is also looking strong.
NWN: What is your number one goal for your team this season?
Baum: Our main goal is to allow every player to have a positive experience on the team and develop. We also try to create leaders and have a positive effect for our players on and off the field.
