The votes are in! Seniors Jessie Rosell and Boaz Shields are Niles West’s Homecoming king and queen. The NWN sat down with the two for an interview about the experience.
Q: What feelings were going through your head while you were waiting?
Rosell: Anxious, but happy with whatever outcome.
Shields: Nervous, but happy for whoever won. [It was] a good group of kids.
Q: How does it feel to be Homecoming king and queen? Are you surprised?
Rosell: Yes, I was caught off guard.
Shields: Yes, same feelings.
Q: What advice do you have for people running next year?
Rosell: Have fun with it.
Shields: Have little siblings! And don’t take it too seriously.
Q: What are you planning on wearing to Homecoming?
Rosell: A peplum dress or something else.
Shields: White, and a bow tie.
Q: How will you continue to represent school spirit?
Rosell: School spirit is my favorite thing. This is only helping that.
Shields: I feel like people will be watching so we have to have a lot of school spirit.
Q: How will you incorporate the sash, crown, and tiara all day? Any selfies?
Rosell: No selfies, I was rampaged with pictures as soon as [we were announced]. I’m excited.
Shields: Probably a couple hundred selfies.
Q: Favorite part of Niles West?
Rosell: When school comes together for games, sporting events, sometimes assemblies, and getting pumped.
Shields: We don’t always have the best gifted teams, but we have positive attitudes and good cheer sections. \
Q: If you could be any faculty member at Niles West, who would you be, and why?
Rosell: Ms. Metoyer. I have her for volleyball, and I plan on stepping in her footsteps. Volleyball has helped me a lot.
Shields: Mr. Klamm. He’s a genius but so modest, and he cares about his students.
