In an effort to celebrate students and their efforts, the annual You Make a Difference breakfast for students is scheduled to be held on Thursday Oct. 24 at 7:30 A.M. in the Student Commons.
This breakfast allows teachers to nominate a student that they feel have showed exceptional qualities. There is no specific criteria; rather, the teachers themselves just choose which student they think is most deserving of the award.
“It’s nice to be recognized for positives. They give so much to the high school, so this a small token from us for all of their time and energy,” principal Jason Ness.
Although this event was started by past principal Kaine Osburn, Ness still plans to continue the tradition.
“I feel that this is just a wonderful concept. It’s fantastic because a lot of times, students aren’t recognized for their work and sometimes a simple thank you can brighten up anybody’s day,” he said.
The students nominated this year are Alyssa Guzman, Arbiela Dadesho, Carin Petyo, Cassie Bergman, Elissa Hoffman, Emily Topp, Emma Davis, Emmanuel Obeng, Frank Yousif, Gabrielle Abesamis, Huma Abdulaziz, Isabel Ramirez, Ivana Brkliacic, Kathryn Doherty, Katia Sulaiman, Kelsey Ledford, Liam Waters, Mary Petyo, Michael Gunartt, Michael Wheeler, Michelle Sproat,Miguel Paloma, Ninos Youssef, Ornela Mishaeel, Quinn Nguyen, Riya Patel, Rizwan Syed, Smita Jain, Stephanie Knorr, Theo Beck, Tia Lindsey, Tim Shaughnessy, Vincent Kabat Yeong-Haw Wang, Yousif Jaba, and Zuzanne Ciesla.
