Indo-Pak club is hosting a Garba night on Saturday, Nov. 15 at Niles North Main Gym from 6-10 p.m.
According to Sonia Pietrzyk co-sponsor of Indo-Pak club, Garba is a cultural Indian line dance that can be performed in a circle or with wooden sticks.
“I think setting up this Garba night is really important because it is a religious event that occurs in the Hindu culture and I can say that there are a lot of Hindus in Indo-Pak,” senior Deepa Pardiwala said. “Setting this event up will also show and teach other people about it.”
Pardiwala also shared a little about the how and why the event is celebrated.
“I want people to know that not only is this a religious event, but it is really fun,” she said. “The Hindu community comes together to celebrate the last few days before our New Year.”
Tickets will be sold for $5 the week of Nov. 11 during lunch periods outside the cafeteria.
