On the evening of August 13, 1996, Sava Michael Savidis and Dimitri Gabriel Savidis were born only seven minutes apart.
However, those seven minutes are all the separation they will ever need. The strong friendship and brotherly love these two share is clearly prominent in their everyday lives. They grew up sharing everything and continue to do the same to this day.
“He is like the other half of me. We both have problems sometimes but we will always resolve it at the end of the day. I am never mad at him for more than a day, and even if we are mad at each other we laugh it off,” Dimitri said.
Whether it’s playing soccer together, battling in video games, or simply surviving high school, they both can rely on each other.
“We always try to compete against each other. I win some and I lose some but that’s how twins work,” Sava said.
Their culture, they say, has a big part in how dependable and strong their relationship is.
“Being Greek automatically makes us close, and being a twin only adds emphasis to that statement,” Dimitri said.
“We were raised knowing that family comes first, especially my brother,” Sava said.
These two have been through everything together and are a constant reminder of what a blessing it is to have a sibling.
In the future, Sava will attend Eastern Illinois University where he hopes to become an athletic trainer. Dimitri will attend University of Illinois -Chicago and study to become an engineer.
They have different plans for the future, but this doesn’t faze them. Their strong connection as twins only brings them closer and defines who they are. The bond they share is one to be admired, and brings being a twin to a whole new level.
