In an effort to give students more time to prepare for the final exams, D219 will have school on Friday, Jan. 17.
Instead of having a day off between the semesters, that Friday will be used for a final exam day. The other school day cancellation will be made up on Friday, Jun. 6, and finals will be pushed to that day as well.
“Since we know how important instructional time is before finals, we will be pushing exam schedule back one day to provide an additional day for review,” principal Jason Ness said in an email.
Although the second makeup day does not affect seniors, some are upset to have school on Jan. 17.
“I can see where they’re coming from in giving us more time in the classroom, but I’m disappointed. I’m sure some students made plans for vacation and such,” senior Tina Conis said. “Plus being a senior, I was looking forward to not making the day up at all and that four-day weekend is always my favorite weekend of the year because it’s completely stress-free.”
The final exam schedule for first semester will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 15 through Friday, Jan. 17.
