The Orchestra Odyssey concert is scheduled to be held on Friday, Jan. 10 at 7 p.m. in the Niles West auditorium.
More than 400 orchestra students will perform jazz charts along with performing solos during the pieces.
“This is really an exciting concert,” said music director Steven Katz, “This brings all our junior high orchestras together with the high school orchestras for one special evening. [It’s] also a special concert because we are bringing in Randy Sabien, a jazz violinist, composer and educator to work with all of the orchestras. All of the music that we are performing, he wrote. [It] should be a wonderful concert.”
Senior Ruby Ladrido said she is excited to see people supporting her during the event.
“It will be nice to see my family, friends and Ms. Brodski- my orchestra directer from Parkview,” she said.
Junior Yakub Pirzada describes the orchestra performers as a family.
“When we’re performing orchestra together, we’re performing as one family,” he said.
Senior Katherine Herman thinks it’s good to showcase students’ talents at West.
“It shows great appreciation of all the talents the students have at Niles West have to offer and takes advantage of the potential of the student body,” she said.
There is no charge to enter the concert.
