The second You Make a Difference breakfast for students will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 4 at 7:30 a.m. in the Student Commons.
The purpose of this event is for faculty members to recognize students who have made remarkable differences either to the school, community or have made great strides in their academics.
“At first I was very grateful and surprised, but most of all I was like ‘why?'” nominated junior Victoria Ogunro said. “I had to reevaluate the school year and think of all the things that were award worthy. I honestly couldn’t think of anything- I was just being me. Because of the cool teacher that nominated me, I was really humbled. I try and help where help is needed and I do it to the best of my ability. I was always taught to give so I didn’t really expect anything in return.”
Junior Nishat Fatima believes the event is a good way to recognize hardworking students.
“It’s really nice when students get recognized for their efforts towards any cause,” she said. “It helps them feel appreciated and also serves as encouragement for further hard work.”
Students nominated for the award are: Kapree Watson, Dylan Stoner, Victoria Ogunro, Anju Nair, Joseph Bakes, Cassie Bergman, Sarah Govis, Jose Mancera, Zach Cogan, Quinn Nguyen, Anna Sguros, John Wengerski, Crystal (Chris) Dominguez, Maria Pfaffinger.
