The Lady Wolves varsity soccer team grinded out a victory against the Maine South Hawks soccer team at home last night, leaving the field with a final score of 2-1.
The team also beat the Niles West girls soccer record for the amount of wins in a season. Last night they made history with 13 total wins so far in their season.
Head coach Brett Clish said they don’t plan on stopping there.
“It felt very good, we knew coming into the season with a lot of girls coming back that we were a young team, but we knew we were capable of hopefully doing some good things,” he said. “It felt good to finally get past that, and knowing that with only two seniors, hopefully the exceptions will be even higher for next year.”
Freshman Jackie Bajric and sophomore Nichole Lopatin both scored last night leading their team to a successful win.
It was a very close game, at halftime the Wolves were leading 2-0, but shortly after a Maine South Hawk scored right at the beginning of the second half.
“I really do believe that the Wolves could win the CSL conference this year, these girls are hungry, they want it bad. I don’t believe anything can stand in their way,” parent Mrijana Bajric said.
The girls take on Highland Park Tuesday May 13 at 4:45 p.m. in the CSL Crossover.
