Senior Andrew Mihulet has committed to Quincy University to play Division II football.
Mihulet said it was a great feeling to play football in College.
“[It was] the best feeling ever, [I’ve] dreamed of it since I was a little kid,” Mihulet said.
Playing in a school that was inside Illinois was important, along with the learning experience.
“The school is nice; It’s still in Illinois,” he said “Of the 1,200 students, 400 of them are athletes. [The school] has good academics.”
Varsity football coach Scott Baum thinks that Quincy has picked up a great talent on defense.
“I believe Quincy University landed a complete football player with their signing of Andrew. They are looking for him to play cornerback for them next year – he will step right in and contribute to their defense. Andrew was one of the interception leaders in the state last year and Quincy is excited,” he said.
Mihulet has been a star at Niles West and Baum recognizes it.
“Andrew has had a great high school career here at Niles West and I am sure he will do the same at Quincy!” he said.
With an undecided major, Mihulet will look to continue his success from Niles West to Quincy.
