On Thursday, Mar. 6, forty members of DECA will participate in the DECA State Competition at Decatur, Illinois.
Students who are submitting writing projects have been working hard from the start of the year.
“The Deca members worked on a project the whole year which ranked from 12-30 pages of business proposals for which we prepare a presentation for the judge. It’s just a great opportunity for deca members to compete at state level. It gives us an experience of how the real business world works. We know the basics of proposing a business plan and what to look for in a business,” senior Jessica Amga said.
Sponsor for DECA Eric Leuder states that many people are doing a role play.
“Some students [are] doing a role play which is when they go in front of a judge and act out a business situation,” Leuder said.
Junior Joy Shiba states that she is nervous because this is her first year.
“Since this is my first year I’m just doing role plays and I have mixed feelings. I’m nervous and excited at the same time but I’m mostly excited because it’s my first time going to state for anything,” Shiba said.
