Niles West Band held their Spring Band Concert in the auditorium yesterday at 7:30 pm.
“We’re playing some really cool music. This concert has my personal favorite Albanian dance because it’s really high energy and I think people will enjoy listening to it a lot,” senior and percussionist Sarah Chamness said.
Freshman Bianca Pop performed solo on her trumpet for the song “Sparks” by Brian Balmages.
“It was really nice. I like the different styles of music and every section got a chance to play a good piece,” Pop said.
Junior Susan Enwia believes the concert went very well.
“I think we did really good. We’ve been really working for this and I think we made Mr. Johnson [the band director] really proud.”
Many performers believes that more students should have attended the band concert.
“I think everybody goes to sports events and these concerts are just as good. Students should come instead of saying things like band is lame,” Pop said.
“Music requires a lot of extra time and perseverance. These concerts take just as much practice as any sports games,” Chamness said.
“I saw the crowd and it was older people. I feel as if the arts aren’t appreciated by the students here as much,” Enwia stated.
