The red team that consisted of freshmen and seniors won, 40-34, the annual Powderpuff game against the white team, which included sophomores and juniors. The game took place at 3:00 pm in the Mike Basrak Field.
With only a few people in the crowd, holding umbrellas to keep them sheltered from the rain, 16 girls, eight from each team, were on the field at once. As the whistle blew for the play to begin, the defense prepared for the offense to make their move.
The rest of the girls were on the side, cheering on their teammates and waiting to be put into the game. Heads were being turned left and right as both teams continued to score a tremendous amount of touchdowns within the last 20 minutes; however, with only five seconds left in the game, the red team proved to be dominant.
Senior Lily Pashup seemed thrilled due to her team’s win.
“I’m glad we won. I had a blast. I’m proud of my team for being optimistic even during the bad times,” she said.
Junior Katelyn Johnson had a positive outlook on the result of the game.
“They [the red team] deserved it. The freshmen especially deserved because they can officially feel comfortable and welcome to the school,” she said.
