The girls’ varsity swimming and diving team faced off rivals Niles North Friday, Sept. 19, losing in a close match of 91-95.
Despite the loss, coach Jason Macejak said he sees more in these swimmers and believes they gave everything they had.
“I’m proud of them and they stepped up,” he said. “We had a lot of good times tonight, but Niles North was the better team and they deserved to win. I told the girls before the meet, if they give everything they got that’s all you can ask for, and that’s exactly what they did. They had a lot of great swims and the score doesn’t take that away from them, it was a great meet on both sides.”
Team members said they were happy with the amount of momentum the team brought to the pool.
“The individual races were very good,” said senior Abby Hegberg. “The swimmers hit their times or even better and the divers had an amazing night that showed their potential as we continue through the season.”
“Overall we did well and fought through the meet,” senior Sam Cachila said.
With intensity, motivation, and experience the girls swimming and diving team are ready to overcome and conquer as they move onto the next teams to come.
The girls will take on Maine West away tomorrow at 5:30 p.m.
