The first cultural round table of the year will be held Thursday, Oct. 2 at 3:45 p.m. in the student commons.
Niles West will welcome guest speaker, Arif Choudhury, who speaks about his life story and cultural background.
Choudhury will perform “More in Common than You Think,” his one-person program of humorous stories of growing up in one of the few Bangladeshi-Muslim immigrant families in Chicago.
“The speaker is coming in to talk about his life story here at Niles West, this is the first time so were all looking forward to listening to him,” math teacher Jasminka Jukic said.
The culture round table is an event that celebrates the diversity at Niles West, Jukic said.
“I myself am an immigrant from Europe so it is nice to see all people from all over the world to come together because I know how hard it is to adapt to a new country,” she said.
Senior Sandy Ibrahim said she looks forward for the event because she can relate to it.
“I feel very comfortable going to the event because I wasn’t born here and that’s how I relate to it,” she said.

I think it’s cool that people get an opportunity to share about their cultures. The cultural round table is such a great place to learn about new cultures.
