Niles West Girls’ Varsity Volleyball team took home the win in only two games against rival school, Niles North last night, Oct. 28 with a final score of 27-25.
The girls will advance in round two of the regionals tomorrow, Oct. 30, at home against Schaumburg.
Head coach Stacy Metoyer said that if the girls play well Thursday night they will advance once again into sectionals leaving only 32 teams left in the state to beat.
“It felt good, it was a really close game and I thought our girls played well and really focused in order for us to win. We also have some amazing fans that have stuck with us through every game possible,” she said. “That itself really motivated and supported the girls when they needed it.”
Senior Keiann Williams, who delivered the winning kill in the final set, said she was proud of the team.
“I’ve been playing for so long and it’s always been go hard or go home,” she said. “When the ball was set to me I knew what I needed to do and once it was done, seeing the reaction of the crowd was incredible. I’m extremely proud of my team and the hard work we’ve put in this year, now it’s time to get the job done.”
