Niles West’s varsity boys and girls basketball teams participated in the annual Breast Cancer Awareness jamboree game against rival Niles North Saturday, Dec. 6.
With a close game by the Wolves girls’ varsity team, they went into overtime tied up 48-48 with the Vikings, but ended up losing with a final score of 57-52.
“This is just the beginning for us, I know my team plays way better than what we showed tonight, but this season isn’t a sprint, it’s a marathon,” senior, captain Julia Easter said after the game Saturday night.
With the loss of the girls, the boy’s varsity went out and got the win over the Vikings with a final score of 74-71.
Junior captain Jojo Rios said Saturday night, “It’s a great feeling of relief to know that the trophy is back where it belongs.”
Both the boys and girls next task is taking on Glenbrook South tomorrow night. The boys will play at GBS at 7 while the girls will battle the Titans at home at 6:30 p.m..
