Select Niles West students and teachers will participate in the ‘You Make A Difference’ breakfast tomorrow morning at 7:30 AM in the student commons. Principal Jason Ness will also be in attendance to hand out awards. The menu for the breakfast includes breakfast sandwiches, bagels, pastries, coffee, and juice.
Students who receive the “You Make A Difference Award” are nominated by faculty or staff. They are chosen when a teacher has seen the student make a difference in the classroom, academics, the school community, sports or clubs. A total of forty-five students were nominated this year.
Judy Wheatman, an organizer of the honorary breakfast, stressed the importance of the ceremony. “It is very important to acknowledge and showcase student achievement. If one student can make a difference and we honor them,” she said, ” it might entice others students to follow.”
