Students in homeroom had to evacuate the building yesterday due to the sounding of the fire alarm.
“We had an issue with a sensor in the pool hallway, which was quickly fixed,” assistant principal Mark Rigby explained.
The Niles West orchestra was in the middle of rehearsing for their evening concert when the alarm sounded, taking a chunk out of vital rehearsal time.
“It was frustrating to miss some important rehearsal time. The orchestra recovered, however,” senior orchestra member Christopher Troiani said.
After the issue was resolved, the Skokie Fire Department gave administration the all-clear, allowing students and teachers to return to their fourth period classes a few minutes in.
