To celebrate its diversity, Niles West will hold its first Cultural Round Table of the year tomorrow, Tuesday Oct. 6, in the student commons. According to sponsor Jasmina Jukic, there will not be a guest speaker this year.
“Cultural Round table serve as a safe space for Niles West students of all backgrounds and cultures to come together and discuss various sensitive topics centered around diversity and equity,” Jukic said.
Teachers believe it is a great way for students to acknowledge their differences.
“I think it is a great way for our culturally diverse school to get together and discuss our own identities,” student activities director Katie Odell said.
Students are happy to see Niles West celebrate and acknowledge other cultures.
“It’s good to see our school has a lot of diversity. At my old school, it wasn’t diverse at all, so it’s good to see that we’re able to come together and celebrate other cultures,” junior Saba Shalwani said.
