International Fest will be held this Friday, Feb. 5, at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. Tickets for students will be $3, and tickets for adults will be $6.
Activities coordinator Katie Odell, has a lot of experience running these types of events.
Odell said, “International Fest is a festival where all of our cultural clubs get together display their dances.”
The Fest will showcase Niles West’s cultural clubs who are performing a variety of dance numbers, fashion shows, and musical acts. They have been practicing for weeks, and they are all very excited about being able to show and represent their cultures.
Junior Raciel Millian is an important member and choreographer for Filipino club.
“Starting from the beginning of the school year, we practiced the dances for this Friday’s International Festival. We have one traditional dance and one modern dance prepared. The modern dance was choreographed by me and the traditional is choreography I learned from a different Filipino dance troop,” Millian said. “The majority of the cultural clubs are dedicated to preparing for these two international weeks. I would say that these clubs’ members are dedicated because many times they stay from 3:30 till 6 or even 7 occasionally to practice the dances. For International Festival, on the week of we have dress rehearsals Tuesday and Thursday. The dancers are expected to stay late until 6 or 7 pm. We run through the whole program and work with McKay for any technical stage stuff.”
Sophomore Alisha Sayani is a proud member of Indo-Pak Club.
“For Indo-Pak we are doing both a dance and a Fashion Show. We’ve been practicing for over a month, and we are all very excited to perform!”
International Night is the closing finale of Niles West’s two week International Week celebration.
