The 2015-2016 NFL season has officially come to a close. The Denver Broncos are your Super Bowl 50 champions as they defeated the Carolina Panthers 24-10.
We knew this game had two incredible defenses, but not many people expected this much of a defensive game. The entire game, from start to finish, was full of sloppy plays and miscues from both teams. In my Super Bowl preview, I predicted a much higher scoring game (31-27 Broncos).
Both quarterbacks had sub-par games, but both defenses came to play and had huge impacts on the game. The Panthers offense finished with 315 total yards, while the Broncos finished with 194. The key to this game was the performance of one of the best defensive players in the entire league: Von Miller. Miller was all over the place Sunday night, which won him the Super Bowl MVP.
After the first quarter, the Broncos offense fell flat and had to rely on the play of their defense to save them. Denver gave Cam Newton all he could handle, but to be fair, Newton got absolutely no help from his teammates on offense yesterday.
I don’t think Cam Newton has anything to hang his head about, he had a great year, and there’s a good chance he will lead the Panthers back to the Super Bowl again. As for Peyton Manning, this could’ve been his last game ever in the NFL, so it’s nice to see him win one last time.
