For the third year in a row, the varsity boys’ gymnastics team has qualified for the IHSA state meet. After the success that has come in the regular season, the team has confidence going into state.
The meet will be held today and tomorrow, May 13-14, at 6 p.m. at Hinsdale Central High School.
“I am very excited about our team qualifying for the third year in a row. The boys have put in a lot of work into this season. We have been very successful and we hope to do well at the State meet. We have some talented athletes on our team. They are determined, focused, and ready to do their best. Many of our varsity members have been to state before and this gives us the confidence to do well. We have won some big meet[s] this season, so we hope to use our experience to be calm and productive at state. Our goal is to be the best we can be and finish our season on a high note,” coach Adrian Batista said.
After all the hard work that was put in, the team has a chance of becoming state champions, which is obviously something they look forward to.
“It feels great to be back a third year and I’m excited! Also, this year we have a shot at being state champs, so a lot of hard work was being put in at the beginning of the season, and it still is, so hopefully we can do something that no other team has done in years past,” senior Dalai Jamiyankhuu said.
Accomplishing such a feat with the group of guys on the team is something really special.
“It is the greatest accomplishment of my life to be able to compete with such an amazing team,” senior Liam Berg said.
With the talent the team has, they are confident they can win it all.
“This season, we have obviously won a lot, but we have also lost a lot. State can go really well, it just depends on how focused we are. We have a really good shot at winning it, and especially with Dalai and other gymnasts, we can win it all,” junior Siraj Patel said.
Keep following The NWN for updates on the meet. Good luck to the boys!
