The Coffeehouse Cabaret has become a very popular event here at Niles West High School. It’s an event held by Niles West theater where students are invited to come at the price of a coffee mug, which gives them access to unlimited free coffee, hot cocoa and lemonade as well as a variety of performances. Coffeehouse Cabaret has been around for five years because of how popular it has become here at our school.
“This is the major fundraiser for the Niles West Theatre Patrons, and all proceeds go to help fund student trips, workshops and scholarships,” theatre director Andrew Sinclair said in his email to the Niles West students.
Students are invited to come and help raise money for the students. The Black Box theatre will be transformed for two nights only and turned into a coffee house, and there will be several performances as well as a silent auction featuring gifts and experiences. The theatre department has worked endless hours to be the best they can be, and they now need all the support they can get.
“Students should come to Coffee House Cabaret to support our amazing theatre department, and the school should really give more attention in these arts because we have truly talented people,” junior Sophia Abdella said. “Plus there is unlimited coffee and food. Knobel once said, “this isn’t just a high school theatre, it’s theatre.” The art department usually gets overlooked with all the attention going to athletics, and it would be great if the student body and their families could come and enjoy this event to support Niles West Theatre.”
This Friday, Nov. 4 and Saturday, Nov. 5, the doors will open at 7:00 p.m., with performances beginning at 7:30 p.m.
“Your ticket for the performance is an official Niles West Theatre coffee mug. You can use this mug to have unlimited coffee, cocoa or lemonade for the evening. Also, we will be offering a complimentary baked goods bar and two acts of entertainment. These short acts consist of music, poetry and scenes performed by West students, parents, staff and alumni. The Friday and Saturday evening acts are different, so we encourage people to attend both evenings if they can! Pre-sale tickets are $15 for current Niles West Students and $20 for Adults and Children,” Sinclair wrote.
Hope to see you there!
