As the 15 lb ball rolls down with such a velocity and mesmerizing spin, all the pins are knocked over, awarding a strike to the Niles West bowling team. The NWN had a chance to sit down with senior Steven Kushner to discuss the bowling season ahead of the team.
NWN: What makes this team so successful and fun to play with?
Kushner: The fun part with this team was that we have a lot of new players this year, 14 freshman to be exact. All the new teammates are a bundle of energy and that is what keeps the team alive and bowling good. The successful part is that we can surprise all the the teams with our scores and show all the others that we are still one of the dominating teams in conference.
NWN: What do you enjoy most about bowling?
Kushner: The thing I enjoy the most about bowling is meeting new people from different teams and also going against my friends with that friendly competition.
NWN: How do you expect the season to turn out this year?
Kushner: I expected this year to be a fresh start for everyone, even myself. So far our record is three wins and four losses but we still have a lot of the season left. With the rest of the season, we are going to get get stronger and better.
