As a way to help juniors prepare for their future, the College and Career Resource Center will be hosting a drop-in day, where juniors can go to the Resource Center and gain information on their senior year and post-high school plans on Friday, Jan. 13.
According to College/Career counselor Daniel Gin, it’s also an opportunity to get to know the Resource Center and get to know Gin himself.
“Junior Drop-In day is for juniors to get to know the College and Career Resource Center,” he said. “I also want juniors to get to know me as well.”
It’s important for juniors to attend, not only because it will help them prepare for college applications, but it’s also a good way to understand which classes they should take senior year, depending on their college and major of choice.
“This way, juniors can begin thinking about their post-high school plans, researching colleges, making appropriate senior year class choices, and gathering information,” he said. “It is important for juniors to start preparing, because the more work they do now, the easier it will be when they begin applying to college in the fall.”
That sentiment was echoed by counselor Benjamin Grais.
“The more you learn and know now, the easier the process will be when you are applying at the start of your senior year,” Grais said.
Because junior year is a time to focus on your future plans, counselors recommend juniors to go to the Resource Center as a way to help guide them and to become familiar with Gin.
“[Drop-in day] gives juniors a chance to see see the room, meet Mr. Gin and Ms. Smith, and access a plethora of college, career and testing resources,” Grais said. “Junior year is the time to explore and ask questions about college so students can research schools, visit campuses and meet with college representatives.”
