If you have any social media, then you’ve seen the DIY charcoal masks everybody has been trying. These masks are shown to get everything out of your pores, whether it’s white heads, black heads, literally anything you could think of. This product seems like it could be pretty deceiving, but we are here today to test it out.
In order to make this mask, all you need is charcoal powder capsules and glue from any drugstore. Mixing a certain amount together will create the right consistency to put all over your face, and then apply it with any brush. Once you have applied the mask, wait until it is completely dry, and then peel it off slowly.
After trying the mask, we came to the conclusion that this is definitely not worth the hype. It mostly removes hair from your skin, not much from your pores. It also doesn’t come off with one solid peel, which makes it much more painful.
On the upper hand, it does leave your skin noticeably smoother, which is really beneficial. If you are looking for a product to remove layers of skin rather than black heads, this might be your best bet.
It was overall still something fun to try, but the pain was not worth the result. I probably wouldn’t do this again, but it wasn’t the worst mask I’ve tried. There are more expensive options that do the same thing, maybe even worse, so this is a cheaper alternative to start out with, since it only ended up being about $11.
