In order to show appreciation for teachers and staff and all the hard work that they do, Niles West will be celebrating Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week between Monday, May 1 and Friday, May 5.
Students are extremely supportive of Teachers’ Appreciation Week because it gives them an opportunity to show their appreciation for everything their teachers have done for them.
“Teachers should have a week dedicated to them because they have a huge impact on the lives of students. The effort they put into teaching not only reflects on our grades, but [also] the positive interactions they have with students shape our experience at Niles West and leave an emotional impact on us,” senior Saba Shalwani said. “My four years at Niles West have been made brighter because of so many teachers like this; they deserve to be appreciated.”
Especially due to the influence teachers have on their students lives, many students appreciate the chance to recognize their teachers more publicly.
“Teachers should be recognized because we have a teacher for 42 minutes a day, 5 days a week, and for many weeks a year. That amounts to a huge portion of our lives and because of this, they have a tremendous influence in our lives,” senior Weronika Jozwiak said.
Students believe teachers do a good job preparing them for exams, such as AP testing.
“Teachers do a lot to help us understand things we don’t get,” senior Kristeen Bebla said. “They do a good job in preparing us for AP testing if we’re in an AP class.”
