TBK Grill is a new restaurant on Skokie Blv and Howard. The chain opened first in 1992 in Chicago and has came a long way since their “little stand on Harlem and Beltmont.” TBK Grill was opened to serve Mexican food made from all fresh ingredients while being cooked with the at home tradition.
They’re open seven days a week from “early morning breakfast” to “late at night after hours.” They are very convenient for workers who need something to eat late at night or early in the morning before work. On week days, TBK is opened from 10:30am to 9:00pm.
When it comes to their food, it is just in the middle. The prices of the food are neither too expensive or too cheap. I ordered two tacos, and each one cost $2.65, which is better than some Mexican restaurants (i.e. La Chapala which serves tacos for 2.75 each.) All though the food tastes pretty authentic, I noticed the tacos did not fill me up as much as they should have for their price. Their cheese fries, which they serve in abundance, are a good deal and are served without a wait.
Several of West students have seen the new restaurant on their way to/from school, and are curious as to whether this TBK Grill is fancier than the one on Touhy Ave. It’s not. If I had to give TBK a rating I would give it 4 stars out of five because their tacos did not fill me up as much as other restaurants tacos do.
