The boys volleyball team will take on the Evanston Wildkits this Wednesday, May 17, at Evanston High School. The game is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.
The varsity boys hold an overall record of 8-24, and a 1-7 record in conference. After falling short to Evanston in two sets earlier this year, the boys are looking to redeem themselves. Head coach Andrew Roche trusts in his team to put their best foot forward.
“We should always play the same way: control the things that are within our control, and play with determination, attitude, and persistence,” Roche said. “Our expectations are simple: give a perfect effort.”
Senior captain Phillip Duros hopes to maintain the team’s confidence and high spirit throughout the game. He realizes that being mentally strong is the key to success.
“We are definitely ready for some revenge. It seems that we are peaking more and more the closer we get to regionals, so who knows what could happen,” Duros said.
Junior Brandon Bujdei feels as though the team has steadily progressed throughout the season. With regionals nearing, he knows that each game is vital to the playoff seeding.
“Though we started this season off slow, we have really begun to take off. Our record may not be the best, but we are a team that truly puts ourselves on the line for every game,” Bujdei said. “At this point, all we can do is try our hardest in playoffs. I’m excited to see what we can do.”
This is a great opportunity to come out to watch the boys as their season comes to a close — the game is bound to be a good one.
