Softball Sensation: Skylar Szlak
Apr 20, 2018
From a very young age, freshman Skylar Szlak fell in love with the game of softball. Through all her hard work, practice, and focus, Szlak plans to leave her mark on the field this season.
For the Szlak family, sports have always been important. Whether at softball tournaments or football games, they have seen it all.
“Softball is my favorite sport by far. Ever since I was little I got into it more and more until it became my thing. I always loved to throw and hit so softball fit me best,” Szlak said.
Along with sports, family and friends are extremely important to Szlak. In her free time, she values going shopping, throwing family parties, and bonding with her older brother, junior Shayn Szlak.
“Her favorite hobbies are hanging with friends, shopping, and spending time with family. We like to spend time practicing sports together and just bonding in general. Sky and I are really close and hang out pretty often,” Shayn Szlak said.
One of Skylar’s longtime friends and teammates sophomore Katie Trail had a lot to say about Szlak’s work ethic and athleticism. Above all that, Szlak’s dedication and persistence make her who she is.
“Skylar has always been an amazing athlete. She’s a quick learner and if she messes up, she never quits on it. She is extremely dedicated and doesn’t stop until she does it right,” Trail said. “Skylar is a person who goes beyond her expectations. You can meet her and feel like you’ve known her for your entire life.”
Szlak aspires to pursue her dreams in softball while enjoying her high school experience. Having a great support system, fun friends, and self-motivation. Szlak is on track to achieve everything coming her way.

I don’t know where to begin. A dictionary is not enough to describe how a great person Skylar is. Skylar is the best friend anyone could ask for. You need anything, she is always there for you. She puts others in front of her first. Skylar is a very hard worker and does not give up to achieve her goals and dreams. School is not the same now that Skylar left school. I wish her all the best and a good luck at her new school!!!
