NBA 2019 Playoffs Well Underway
Apr 24, 2019
The NBA playoffs are underway and so far it has been nothing but big leads and sweeps during the first round. The elite level teams are thriving as one would expect and the Golden State Warriors are again looking to be favored to win it all.
This is also the first time in eight years that superstar Lebron James hasn’t been in the NBA playoffs. That feat alone is crazy to think about but after he joined up with the Los Angeles Lakers, it didn’t take long to see that he wouldn’t make it this year.
“So far, I believe the NBA playoffs this year have been a little bit dull considering all of the good teams have been beating up the mediocre ones. The next couple rounds should get more interesting because the elite level teams will be more evenly matched with each other,” junior Michael Daratzis said.
The Warriors are yet again favored to win by almost all viewers of the playoffs this year only because their team is completely filled with named stars.
“As of right now, I predict the Warriors to win the championship yet again because their team is just stacked with superstars but hopefully a team like the Bucks could defeat the dynasty, but that doesn’t seem likely,” Daratzis said.
Not everyone will be watching the NBA playoffs this year but that still doesn’t take away from the fact that literally everyone still thinks that the Warriors will win it all.
“I’m just too busy to watch the playoffs and although I really like basketball, I am just not that serious enough about watching it that I would devote my extra time to watch it unless it’s March Madness. And even though I will probably only watch a game or two, I still think Golden State will win it again this year,” junior Annie Lefler said.
Some people are seeing potential in other teams to take down the reigning champions like the Philadelphia 76ers, but still don’t think they have the talent and power of the Warriors to take them down.
“The NBA playoffs have been off to a good start so far but I think it’s going to end the same as pretty much every one of the last few, with the Warriors making it to the finals and potentially playing against the 76ers. The 76ers are off to a really hot start but I think if it came to those two, in the end, the Warriors would win it all again,” freshman Brendan Som said.
The first round of the playoffs are coming to an end soon but if you ever want to tune in to this years postseason, I’m sure it won’t be hard to find a game on or stay updated to see which team will take home the 2019 title.
