Students to Say The Pledge of Allegiance During Homeroom

By Stefan Simic, Staff Writer

Today, Sep. 2, during all homerooms, the Pledge of Allegiance will be played over the school intercom system, and it will continue to play every day during homeroom for the rest of the school year. The school is required, under Illinois Statues Chapter 105, to play the Pledge of Allegiance every day.

New principal Dr. Karen Ritter is making sure every classroom has an American flag displayed. She hopes that reciting the Pledge of Allegiance will provide an additional purpose to homeroom, and aims to follow school code throughout the year.

For those of you who may not remember how our country’s pledge goes, it reads as follows:

I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
