“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” A Remarkable End to the Series
Jan 9, 2020
The final film “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” in the “Star Wars” series was released on Dec. 20, 2019. The movie “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” received many mixed reviews from fans all around the globe and personally, for me, it was a solid ending to the sequel and was able to answer some of the big questions that fans have been asking since 2015 when “The Force Awakens” was released.
Without spoiling too much of the movie for people who have yet to see it, with the story set aside, “The Rise of Skywalker” is just a good movie in general when talking about visuals, effects, soundtracks, and acting. Many people were disappointed with the way the story played out throughout the three movies but one thing that they were all able to do is to make good movies that are just fun to watch even to the people that have no idea what “Star Wars” is about.
In regards to the actual story, I didn’t think it was all that bad considering that Disney made the whole thing from scratch and didn’t have a roadmap to follow. Going into the movie, I had no high expectations to get my mind blown but a lot of plot questions that I and thousands of other people had were answered and I was ultimately pretty happy in the end with how everything played out. I wish some things were done differently, as I’m sure many other people would agree, but some scenes were put in the movie for the die-hard fans like me that were very well done and made me happy.
I would anticipate that “The Rise of Skywalker” will definitely win some awards for visuals and music because those were the two things in the movie that were just beautiful 100% of the time. Character models looked better than ever and the way the filmmakers made some of the scenes looked, it felt like you were right up there in the action.
At this point in time, I’m pretty sure that almost everyone who owns a cell phone has heard of Baby Yoda from the Star Wars TV show on Disney+ and although he took the internet by storm, “The Rise of Skywalker” introduced a new character. Even though he wasn’t a huge part of the story at all for that matter, Babu Frick won the hearts of millions of people and even for some who didn’t like the movie at all, they thought he was the best part of it. I personally thought it was a fantastic way to introduce a new character to the series that isn’t crazy important to the story but does just enough to win over the fans.
All in all, “The Rise of Skywalker” is a beautifully made movie and it is very easy to see that a lot of time and care went into the making of the film. Even months before the movie came out and I was watching the trailers, I knew that a lot of people would be disappointed in the movie but nonetheless I still went into the movie expecting to see a solid end to the sequel but not be completely let down at the same time. I think with the cards that Disney and the filmmakers were dealt, they did the best possible job they could in regards to the story.
I would rate “The Rise of Skywalker” a solid eight out of ten because although it isn’t my favorite “Star Wars” movie, it did a pretty good job of wrapping up the story and producing a very good movie for a common person to watch so I would highly recommend you go out and see it as it will definitely be entertaining and worth your time.
