Sitcom “WandaVision” Proves a Hit on Disney+

With a high 8.3/10 rating on IMDb, the latest trending television show “WandaVision” is quickly becoming a hit among Marvel fans since its release early this year on Jan. 15., 2021. Starring Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, WandaVision is a drama/mystery mini-series that follows popular MCU superheroes Wanda Maximoff, aka the Scarlet Witch, and Vision as they navigate their lives through what seems to be a ‘perfect suburban life’, but quickly realize that not everything is as it seems.

The series begins with Wanda and Vision arriving at their new house. The entire episode is in black and white and there are laugh tracks, signifying it is a sitcom. Wanda and Vision go about their day in classic sitcom style, first a misunderstanding, then a barely put-together dinner later in the evening with many laughs throughout. Near the end of the dinner, however, one of their guests starts to choke and Vision saves him. The two guests then leave the house unfazed, and Wanda and Vision realize somethings up but brush it off. At the end of the episode, we see that someone was watching this on their TV, further proving that this is a sitcom.

In terms of the cast, Olsen was a very good choice for the role of Wanda. Every movie she’s in, she always gives it her all and embodies Wanda’s journey to fully understand and control her powers perfectly. I look forward to seeing her in more Marvel movies in the future and am glad that her character got her own spin-off series.

Bettany plays Vision, the android husband to Wanda. Bettany did a very good job embodying Vision in this series, just as he has done in every past movie. Actress Kat Dennings plays the quirky Astrophysicist Darcy. She embodies this character perfectly, just as she has in previous movies. Teyonnah Parris plays Monica Rambeau, also known as Geraldine in the beginning of the series. I believe that she is a very good actress, and embodies the role of a young woman coming into possession of superpowers very well.

WandaVision is a really great series and is a very entertaining watch. It’s canonically placed in the MCU to be after “Endgame”. I very much enjoyed it as it was complex and interesting. I’d give it a 10/10, and in my opinion, it’s a must-watch.
