Carmen Sandiego: The Animated Series You and Your Family Can Enjoy
Mar 9, 2021
“Carmen Sandiego,” an adaptation of the well-known “Where on Earth Is Carmen Sandiego?” series, has just released its final season in late January of this year. Currently, it has a nice 7.9/10 rating on IMDb and seems to be a crowd-pleaser. It follows a young Carmen and explains her backstory in detail, even adding in some new characters. The series stars Gina Rodriguez and Finn Wolfhard as Carmen and Player, respectively.
The series begins in seemingly the middle of the action, as Carmen is carrying out a heist in France. She’s pursued by a french cop and evades capture easily. The place she ‘robs’ ends up being a place where other thieves have hidden their loot, and this puzzles the police. While Carmen is getting away, she is cornered on a train by an old friend.
She then begins recounting her past and explains her entire backstory. She talks about her life in a school for thieves, up until the point where she defected and decided to only steal from other thieves and bring the stolen artifacts back into the world. Once she is done recounting her life so far, she makes a miraculous escape, and the series really kicks off.
In terms of cast, Rodriguez was an excellent choice for the voice role of Carmen. She has voiced and acted in many big roles in big films and obviously has a lot of skill. She embodied Carmen’s tough and skilled attitude very well. I think she has a lot of talent, and I look forward to seeing her act or voice many more characters in the future.
Wolfhard voices Player, Carmen’s right-hand man and a self-proclaimed white hat hacker. He emanated Players spunky attitude well, and I think he was a great choice – he obviously had a lot of skill. I look forward to seeing him voice more characters.
“Carmen Sandiego” is a very interesting series. While many people might think it’s only for kids, I found that I enjoyed watching it with my little sister. It’s very entertaining a perfect show to watch with younger siblings. In my opinion, it deserves a 10/10.
