Preseason Hype – Chicago Bulls Edition
Oct 15, 2021
The Chicago Bulls started off the preseason 3-0 and have been winning in high fashion. This high scoring offense is fun to watch, creating a lot of excitement from fans for a successful playoff team.
After an exciting off-season, multiple additions have been made to the organization. With an already star studded team with Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic, the Bulls have added Lonzo Ball, Alex Caruso and eleventh-year small forward DeMar DeRozan. Ball brings a point guard experience with his elusive defending and ability to spread the ball around the court. DeRozan is a four-time NBA all-star player who averaged 21.6 points and 6.9 assists last season. DeRozan is expected to be an influential player for the Bulls with his versatility across the floor and experience in the league having made five playoff runs, soon to be six.
Chemistry and high scoring seems to be the key for the Bulls season according to senior Harun Senderovic.
“I think the Bulls have stepped up their game to another level with the high intensity and fast-paced offense. We have four legitimate scoring threats with great perimeter defense with the addition of Ball and Caruso. The chemistry is also flowing, for how little they’ve played together so far,” Senderovic stated.
Senior Adrien Herrera enjoys the hype and is satisfied with the off-season moves.
“Things are looking good for us this year. The additions of Ball and DeRozan add some much needed variety to our once stagnant offense, along with a positive defensive impact,” Herrera stated.
On top of all these moves, the Bulls drafted a high-rated guard from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in the second round. Ayo Dosunmu led the Fighting Illini to a Big Ten title and finished his 20-21 season averaging over 20 points per game. Dosunmu will have the opportunity to learn under some of the best guards in the league, and hopefully will bloom into the player the organization hopes he will be.
Expectations have been set high for this squad, but the future is nonetheless promising for this organization.
“For the regular season, I’m expecting them to hit 50 wins and get to the second round in the playoffs. The Bulls have two current all-stars, LaVine and Vucevic, and a former one is DeRozan. They also have a potential sixth man of the year, Coby White. Regardless of the outcome this season, the future is bright for head coach Billy Donovan and this Bulls squad,” senior Rabee Ahmad stated.
The Bulls will face Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies today at 7 p.m. CT.
