A lockdown safety drill will take place on Nov. 3 at the start of homeroom at 10:31 a.m. The safety drill will encompass lockdown procedures including lights off, locking the door, taking attendance and hiding from direct line of sight from the door and windows. A video was shown in homeroom on Nov. 2 demonstrating a lockdown drill. To watch the video, click here

According to a recent reform to the Illinois School Safety Drill Act, students can opt out of the safety drill.

“Schools must also provide to parents and guardians an opportunity to exempt their child for any reason from participating in the walk-through lockdown drill.”

If a parent/guardian does not wish for their student to participate in the law enforcement safety drill, contact Principal Karen Ritter or Assistant Principal Steve Parnther. Students who opt-out will be asked to go to the field house instead of homeroom at the end of 3rd period.
